Beautiful Demoiselle Calopteryx virgo
Identification: Males have a metallic blue body and dark wings. Although dark, the wings have a blue irredescence. The bases and ends of the wings can be paler. Females have green bodies and amber wings.
Information: Distribution: southern and south-west Britain, southern Ireland and western Scotland. June to August.
Similar species: Female Banded Demoiselle have paler, less broad wings.
