Black-necked Grebe Podiceps nigricollis
 
Identification: Small grebe with rounded head. Steep forehead. In summer black-neck and yellow fan of feathers behind the eye. In winter grey and white.
Information: Distribution: a few summer on lakes and reservoirs scattered across Britain.
Similar species: In winter Slavonian Grebe bill has a pale bill-tip and has a flat forehead sloping forwards with a peak at the back.
