Noctule Nyctalus noctula
Identification: A large bat that appears soon after sunset. Distinctive flight pattern: strong and direct above the tree tops then dives rapidly when hunting prey. Characteristic chip-chop call sound recording.
Information: Widely distributed in England and Wales. Scattered sites in Scotland.
Similar species: Leisler's Bat and Serotine.
