Sooty Shearwater Puffinus griseus
 
Identification: Large dark shearwater with silvery underwings.
Information: Distribution: pelagic, uncommon autumn passage migrant to British coasts. Will only be seen by design as it only occurs some distance from the coast or in appropriate conditions for seawatching in the Autumn.
Similar species: Larger and darker than the Manx Shearwater that has white underparts.
