Wood Mouse Apodemus sylvaticus
Identification: Large ears and eyes. Long two-tone tail. Pointed snout. Brown above and white below. Small yellow-brown patch between fore-legs (thumbnail 1).
Information: Alternative name: Long-tailed Field Mouse. Distribution: common and widespread through the British Isles.
Similar species: Yellow-necked Mouse Apodemus flavicollis is less common, larger and more aggresive than the Wood Mouse. It also has a yellowish band across the whole of the upper chest.
